Matt needs a home… (long term / short term / whatever)

I call upon the mighty power of Social Networking and blogs to help me in my quest for a home. Feel free to pass the following note on to anyone you think may be able to help.
Easy-going creative type (designer/illustrator/content-writer/geek/boffin), looking for a room (or a VERY cheap one bedroom flat / long-term house-sit / etc.) READY TO MOVE IN NOW!

From no further south than St Kilda / Elwood, to the inner-city, Richmond etc. and as far north as Alphington. I prefer to be near water but close to proper coffee is probably a bigger factor. Will go east as far as Hawthorn etc. but not west (Can’t handle the ‘burbs either, I’d rather dig my eyeball out with Amanda Vanstone’s toenail). I’m an old-school St Kilda boy, (and reminisce constantly about ‘the good old days’) but now most folk I know seem to be around Northcote/Fitzroy so that’s probably where I should be too.

I’m an easy-going, meat-eating food/wine loving designer/illustrator/content-writer, fond of a bit of ‘nesting’ (you may have to stop me from shifting furniture around and buying too many cushions). I’ve recently returned to Melbourne after a year in Sydney looking after my mum who was terminally ill. Before that I had 6 years in Scotland which followed 2 years in Ireland. I’m probably older than you, but younger than that guy over there. That guy sucks. So does his penguin.

* Homes with pets (& kids).
* Smoke-free(ish) homes.
* Housemates who enjoy cooking or will smile politely at my attempts.
* Housemates who don’t take themselves too seriously and enjoy a bit of banter.
* Big, airy, old rooms.
* Housemates who have travelled, or do travel or who are from other places.
* Homes with diverse musical tastes.
* Homes with Otters.
(While the odds of finding a house with an otter are pretty slim, I thought I’d mention it anyway. You know, just in case, because otters rock.)
* I don’t really like *

* Smokey houses.
* Right-wing flatmates.
(unless they like a good argument)
* Intense households.
(Life is much better and funnier than you think Mr/Ms Emo)
* Vegan households.
(I eat meat and can’t handle the guilt trip. Or the mung beans)
* Dishes piled up in the sink from 3 days before.
* Overly serious, trustafarian, fire-twirling, tabla-bashing pseudo-hippies.
(but I dig real hippies, and drums, and fire. You work it out).
* Speed Metal, Death Metal, (basically any kind of Metal except Lounge-Metal, and only because Steve Mascord and I invented it.), James Blunt, Franz-bloody-Ferdinand and that musical equivalent of Mogadon, Coldplay.
* Penguins
